The primary function of the Controller is to provide sound financial and accounting leadership in order to ensure the protection of HEMC's assets.
The position will report to the Vice President, Finance and Administration but will act as the financial business partner to the cooperative's leadership team.
Beyond the stated skills and qualifications, the successful candidate will be naturally curious, very detail-oriented and have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities; articulate and convey thoughts and ideas to multiple audiences and exude a strong sense of ownership for HEMC's financial operations and results.
Duties include:
-Manage the general ledger accounting, revenue (consumer) accounting, plant accounting, budget, financial analysis, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax and compliance functions.
-Ensure timely preparation, accuracy and conformance of financial statements and other financial reports for HEMC and its subsidiary.
-Monitors debt management function to ensure accurate and timely recording of debt service costs and new debt issuances as well as compliance with mortgage indentures and loan agreements.
-Ensures corporate tax compliance to assure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate tax returns taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
-Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
-Analyzes the impact of proposed regulatory and accounting changes on Habersham EMC; implements appropriate changes in a timely manner.
-Supervise the work of Accounting and Consumer Accounting employees to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
-Plan, design/evaluate, implement and maintain - accounting systems, accounting procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets and provide accurate financial statements and maintain financial integrity.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
